Notification events and reminders
Which automatic messages clients receive, which of them you can turn off, how a client picks the reminder time, and why a reminder sometimes doesn’t arrive.
Updated
YEMISCE automatically tells clients about important changes to their bookings and reminds them of their visit. Some of these messages can be turned off for the whole business, and the client picks the reminder time themselves — when booking or later in their “My bookings” account.
Where to set it up
Open “Settings” → “Notifications” → the “Service notifications” block. Under the heading it says: “Clients receive these only through a channel they chose. If unavailable, YEMISCE tries the next permitted channel.” How the channel is chosen is explained in How notifications work.
Each event has a label:
- “Required” — this event can’t be turned off, and “Active” is shown on the right;
- “Can be turned off” — there is a checkbox on the right.
Tick or untick the boxes and click “Save”. “Saved” appears at the bottom of the page.
The events
- “Booking confirmation” — can be turned off. Sent when a client books online or you create a booking in the dashboard.
- “Booking rescheduled” — required. The client learns the new time.
- “Booking cancelled” — required. The client gets it both when you cancel and when they cancel themselves.
- “Booking reminder” — can be turned off. See how it works below.
- “Waitlist opening” — can be turned off. An offer of free time to clients on the waitlist when you publish a free opening and choose to notify clients. See Waitlist.
- “Opening today” — can be turned off. An offer of free time to clients who agreed to an earlier time, and to clients whose waitlist request fits the opening. See “Open today”.
Review requests and the post-visit check-in are set up separately — see Reviews: request and reminder and Aftercare.
How reminders work
The client picks the time. When booking online, the “Booking reminders” block has a “When to remind” field with the options “1 hour before”, “2 hours before”, “6 hours before” and “24 hours before”. “24 hours before” is selected by default.
The client can change it later. In “My bookings”, every upcoming confirmed visit has “When to remind” with the same options and a “Save” button. After saving, the client sees “Reminder time saved.” If the reminder has already been sent, it won’t come again. See My bookings.
Bookings made in the dashboard. If you or a team member created the booking, the reminder is also set to “24 hours before”. The client can change it in “My bookings”.
Confirmed bookings only. A cancelled booking gets no reminder. If a booking is rescheduled, the reminder comes for the new time with the same interval.
Timing. YEMISCE checks for due reminders every few minutes, so a reminder can arrive a few minutes early or late.
If the booking was made late. If the reminder moment had already passed when the booking was made, YEMISCE sends the reminder right away — but only if no more than an hour has passed since that moment. For example:
- at 10:00 a client books an 11:30 visit and picks “2 hours before” — the reminder was due at 9:30, so it is sent right away;
- at 10:00 you create a booking in the dashboard for 16:00 the same day — the 24-hour reminder moment passed long ago, so there is no reminder.
If a channel fails. YEMISCE tries all channels the client permitted. If none of them works, it tries again — up to three attempts in total.
FAQ
A client didn’t get a reminder.
Check that “Booking reminder” is on. Check whether the booking was created after the reminder was due (see the examples above). Check the client’s channels and the “Channels” switches — see How notifications work.
Can I set the same reminder time for all clients?
No. Every booking — online or created in the dashboard — starts with “24 hours before”, and the client can pick another time themselves: in the booking form or in “My bookings”.
Can I turn off cancellation messages?
No. “Booking rescheduled” and “Booking cancelled” are required: the client must know their booking has changed.
Do I get reminders about my own bookings?
No, reminders go to clients only. You see your schedule in “Bookings”.
Where can a client change the reminder channel?
In their “My bookings” account. See Notifications for clients.
